Donate Materials

SONY DSCWe are an official repository for a vast range of items that are part of Canada’s military history. As such we welcome donations pertaining to Canada’s military past. The Laurier Military History Archive is pleased to accept both physical and digital donations. As many individuals find it hard to separate from family pictures, letters, and other physical materials, LMH Archive has launched a digital acquisition mandate that allows us to scan your material to add a digital copy to our archives. If you are interested in sharing your family’s history with us but do not want to part from the physical material, we graciously encourage you think about letting us digitize your historical items.

If you are an organization or an individual wishing to donate materials for the first time, please contact our archivist in advance. Donations must fit within our mandate of collecting, preserving, and making available the recorded experience of Canadian military history.

In adherence to the code of ethics of the Association of Canadian Archivists, we aim to be clear about our plans for the long-term care and use of your materials at the time of donation. Together, our archivist and donor will sign either a physical or digital donation form. We also advise you of your options, including housing materials at other archives.

To speak with our Archives Manager about donating materials, please email archives@canadianmilitaryhistory.ca.
